THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY LEARNING STRATEGIES AND THEIR VOCABULARY SIZE

The research aimed to finding out the types of vocabulary learning strategies (VLS) used by students SMK Negeri 4 Makassar, differences Makassar based on their field study, and whether or not significant relationship between size Makassar. applied correlational design. Three classes different from three majors; accounting, administration, tourism, were chosen as subjects this obtained through random sampling technique population that consisted 156 in academic year 2016/2017. There 82 samples research. result was accounting metacognitive frequently (m=3.39), administration tended use determination (m=3.32), tourism social frequent (m=3.37), (3) there a correlation students’ VLS knowledge where r = .225 categorized low degree p .042 p<α (α=.05), it means H0 rejected. Therefore, indicated had with knowledge. respectively most least frequent; they are strategies, memory cognitive strategies.
